How do I make scans of a book ADA compliant?

Have scans of older book chapters or articles? This is what you can do:

  1. Search the Library catalog to see if the Libraries have an ebook version and take note of the vendor and/or publisher. Check the vendor/publisher’s website for accessibility guidance.

  1. Some vendors/publishers offers remediation services by request for their content. Check the vendor/publisher’s website for details.

  1. Submit a request for the library to consider purchasing the materials if we can get an accessible copy. Note that not all requests will be fulfilled based on budget and/or availability of the resource as an institutional purchase.

  1. Remediating PDFs is an option but is very time-consuming and can be expensive to outsource. University Communications and Marketing provides some PDF remediation recommendations.

  1. Find alternatives for the book or article. Consider our Zero Cost Textbook Program  and/or contact a librarian to explore alternative course materials.
