Is the Libraries’ digital content entirely accessible?
The level of compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1) varies by vendor, publisher, and platform. The Libraries do not have immediate control over which platforms and formats are 100% compliant, as we contract most resources to external vendors. The Libraries are actively working with our vendor partners to ensure accessibility guidelines, one contract at a time until the deadline in 2027.
The Libraries do have options for checking and requesting accessible materials. (More options are coming soon!)
When linking to Libraries’ content, it is best to link directly to library resources rather than providing the PDF versions. The PDF you provide may or may not be accessible, and some vendors offer HTML versions of the article, which may be their compliant format of the content.
