How do I access the New York Times
The library has recently subscribed to The New York Times (NYT) for the entire Ohio University community starting June 1st, 2025. This page outlines how to create an account for access if you are completely new to The New York Times, or need to connect an existing subscription, and how to continue accessing The New York Times once you have setup/connected your account.
Directions for accessing The New York Times for new users:
Start by visiting www.nytimes.com and click “Login” in the upper right corner of the NYT header.

After clicking “Login”, click on “Continue with work or school single sign-on”

Use your Ohio University email and this will lead your through the Ohio University authentication prompts.
Directions for connecting your existing New York Times subscription to your Ohio University subscription:
Login to your personal NYT account and update your personal email to your ohio.edu email.
Next, cancel your personal subscription at this link.
Clear your cache and cookies. Then login with to nytimes.com again using the option "Continue with work or school single sign-on" at the bottom.
Click on the “Account” dropdown in the upper right corner. Choose “Account settings” then “Email and settings”.
Under “Not Connected” there is the “Work or School” option and a “Connect” button.
In regards to any apps you have on your phone, after completing the above steps, uninstall and reinstall the NYT app then login with your ohio.edu credentials.

Directions for continual access to The New York Times:
Visit www.nytimes.com and click "Login".
Choose "Continue with work or school single-sign-on" and go through the authentication process.
