How do I print?
Printing in Alden is unique -- but not hard!
Quick Note on Bobcat Cash
No matter how you print, you will need Bobcat Cash.
Students, faculty, and staff can visit ohio.edu/bobcat-cash to add fund to their university ID.
Guest Print Cards are available at library service desks. To add money to a Guest Print Card, visit the Guest / Departmental Print Card portal. Learn more about Guest Print Card terms and conditions.
There are two ways to print, and each is a little different:
Option 1: Print from Your Own Device
- To do this, you'll need to upload your file to the My Print Center website which makes it accessible to our printers.
- Your OHIO ID is your username -- which is also part of your OHIO University email address. However, do not include the @ symbol and ohio.edu domain. For example, it should look like:
-
Upload Your Document - Click the Upload button to send your document to the print server.
- Change Print Job Settings (optional)
- By default, your print job will:
- print in black and white,
- print double-sided,
- print a single copy,
- and print the document in full.
If this is okay, skip to step 5. Need to change these options? Simply select each document and make changes in the Print Options area of MyPrintCenter.
- Go to your selected printer type (any black & white printer, or any color printer, depending)
- Swipe your OHIO ID or Guest Print Card, and follow the on-screen prompts
Left your OHIO ID at home? Tap the keyboard icon in the upper right corner of the touch screen to log in manually
You can also print directly from all library computers, which does not require MyPrintCenter and can be more stable for certain document types, such as unique paper sizes and heavily formatted Word documents (i.e., resumes).
Option 2: Print from a Library Desktop
- Log in on a library desktop and bring up the file you'd like to print. (You may need to email it to yourself and then login to your email.)
- Select "Print" in the application you're using to view your file and send the file to one of the two printer options, depending on if you are printing a color document or a black and white one.
- Libraries_Xerox_Black&White
- Libraries_Xerox_Color
- You'll be prompted to enter your OHIO ID. Your OHIO ID is found in your OHIO University email address. However, do not include the @ symbol and ohio.edu domain. For example, it should look like:
-
Wait for the confirmation pop-up box.
-
Depending on your document size, it might take a few seconds to appear. Confirm by clicking Yes.
-
-
Go to your selected printer type (any black & white printer, or any color printer, depending).
-
Swipe your OHIO ID or Guest Print Card, and follow the on-screen prompts.
Left your OHIO ID at home? Tap the keyboard icon in the upper right corner of the touch screen to log in manually.
