How do I request materials to be sent to other OhioLINK participating libraries?
If you ever need it, you can pick up an OhioLINK request at any participating OhioLINK library. As an example, if you were going to be by Ohio State's Thompson Library and needed to request a book through OhioLINK, you can select Thompson Library as a pickup location for your convenience.
- Search for an item in the Library Search Catalog.
- For an item that you can request through OhioLINK, you will see "Pickup options at multiple institutions." Select Request to be taken to the Request form.
- On the Request form, select "My Home Institution" to open the location dropdown. Then select any OhioLINK Institution that you wish to pick up from instead.
- You will need to verify that the loan rules of the two institutions work with each other by selecting Refine Offer at the bottom of the form. This should not be a problem, as OhioLINK Libraries share the same terms of use. Complete the form by selecting Send.
- You will be able to see your request under your Library Card. It should have the name of the institution you selected as the Pickup Institution. You will receive a notice when the item is ready for pickup at the chosen institution.
- The Pickup Institution will loan the item to you. It should show up in your loans on your Library Card.
- Once you are finished, please return the item back to the library that you picked it up from. The loan will be cleared from your record once staff check the item in.
