Where is the microform collection and how do I use it?

Alden Library's microform collection and microform scanners are located in the wing marked room 126 on the floor map.  From the elevator/stairwell bay on the first floor of Alden Library look to your left.

Different Types of Microform

There are many types of microform and all can be found in our collections. The two most common types of microform are:

  • microfilm, which is wound around a spool
  • microfiche, which is displayed on single sheets

Both of these types of microform, in addition to super-fiche and microprint, can be viewed and scanned using the STImaging microfilm scanners located on the 1st floor of Alden Library.

How to Use Scanners

There is a step by step video loaded on the desktops of both scanners. All you have to do is click on the icon and the video will play.

If you would like a broad look at what the scanner can do you can also watch the promotional video of the STImaging ViewScan IV Microfilm Scanner.
