How do I borrow books, movies (DVDs), and other library materials?

Students, faculty, and staff can borrow materials with their Ohio University ID. We also have options for free community memberships and a paid Friends of the Libraries membership that extends your benefits. To learn more about borrowing privileges and loan rules, please visit our Borrowing at a Glance page.

Searching for Books/Films/Etc.

Starting from our library homepage:

  1. Type keywords into the search bar to view items in our catalog that match your search. You may also want to use the advanced search to refine your results.
  2. If an item has multiple versions, click the title to view all versions.
  3. Select the version of the item that you want to request.
  4. Under "Get it" hit "Request." You will select your pickup location and receive an email once our staff has located and checked the book out for you.
  5. Or use the call number from the record to find the item at its designated location. Once you find what you need, visit a library service desk and a staff member will help you check out.
